This tools is used to compute an overall fleet score from a series of results using a modified high point percentage formula.
- Use the Load menu to select the event from the different regatta websites.
- Once an event is selected and the entries are downloaded, one can use the class selectors to indicate which classes to be included in the overall ranking.
The page will automatically recompute the rankings when the selections are changed.
Briefly, the overall scoring is computed as follows.
- Within each section/class all boats are given a high point score based on their place in each race.
The points are are based on the number of boats in the section, where 1st place receives N points (number of boats), 2nd place receives N-1 points, etc.
Any boats that were assigned a letter score listed as a Zero point letter-score will be given 0 points.
Please note, that for many letter scores the effect place for the boat is typically recorded as one place more the number of boats.
Thus, the computed points base on the reported place would still be zero.
- Then the series score is computed as the sum of the points divided by the total possible points (number of boats multiplied by the number of races)
- All boats in the regatta are then ranked based on the series score (high point percentage)
